Introduction

Canada is one of the rare bilingual countries that speaks both French and English, two rivalling nations. This is largely due to the colonisation that took place in the 1600’s, which saw the French as the first major coloniser before forfeiting their control to Great Britain. This page will discuss the skills gained, topics covered, use cases, and the relevant applications, before concluding by summarising key points. To start off, students will explore the grammar tenses and verbs in more depth, with the focal point mainly on past, present, and future. Before moving on to exploring French culture within and outside of Canada. This is applied during interactive class activities where students are required to speak only French for a set period, often based on specific themes, worksheets, presentations, and projects. Through these activities, students gain speaking and written production skills, as well as greater comprehension of French culture and language.
